Business Rates Advice
In these difficult economic times, we are all looking at overheads and how we may reduce them.
The role of a Rating Surveyor extends to more than just the raising of appeals against the rating assessment of a client's property. At Paddisons, we:
Check rate demands:
to ensure that the Council's calculations are correct and that you have received all the reliefs and exemptions to which you are entitled.
Advise on Empty Rates:
recent changes to Empty Property Relief mean that the potential to minimise liability following vacation of part of a property has been reduced. However, all is not lost, and we will advise on the likelihood of making savings following vacation of part or all of a property.
Statutory Rating Notices:
the VOA is currently preparing for the forthcoming 2010 Revaluation and as part of this, "Notice Requesting Information" forms are being issued. Completion of these forms will have a direct bearing on your future (and possibly current) rates liability and we ask our clients to forward them to us for completion, as part of our service to you.
Survey:
we will always carry out a full measured survey of a client's property before proceeding with an appeal.
Appeals:
we will keep you advised on the various circumstances where an appeal can be served. We will report whether or not an appeal is appropriate in the circumstances and negotiate with the Valuation Officer on your behalf. At the conclusion of the appeal you will be sent a report showing the savings made over the period of the Revaluation.
